Taking on a new kitchen renovation project can be overwhelming. That’s why it makes sense to spend as much time as is necessary to plan out your project. Following a road map is easier than blazing a trail as you go.

What absolutely needs to be replaced, and what is your budget? How much are you willing to do in your kitchen? Can you set aside the time and money to do a complete renovation of the entire room, or does the room just need a freshen-up?

What would you like the main function of your kitchen to be for (cooking, socializing, eating, etc.)? This will help you decide what countertop, lighting arrangement, and furniture layout is going to be right for you and your family.

3) Where do you see your life in the next few years?

Kitchen renovations aren’t something you’ll be doing every year for the rest of your life!

Think about where you’ll be and what you’ll be doing two years from now, five years from now, eight years from now.

Will you be just starting a family in a couple of years? Or will your kids be all grown up and moving out of the house within the next decade? Are you planning on living in this house for the rest of your life or is there a good chance you will be moving to another city in three years?

Budgeting isn’t the only thing to think about when you’re starting a kitchen renovation project!
